Birthstone: Topaz

November is the eleventh month of the year. The word november derives from the latin word novem, meaning nine because originally it was the ninth month in the Roman calendar.
This was changed to the present day order when catholic countries adopted the Gregorian calendar in 1582.
The chrysanthemum is the flower of November and the topaz is its birthstone whose virtues are, wisdom, courage and serenity.

The Origin of the Birthstone

Today Birthstones are associated with the particular calendar months of the year and considered lucky to the people born in those months.
Some attribute the origin of the tradition of birthstones to the 12-jeweled breastplate worn by Aaron, the brother of Moses.
Myths and Superstitions gradually grew up regarding the stones, and symbolic meanings or virtues were ascribed to them.
